Chuck Berry’s Dream Flight over Pink Waters

Veteran skydiver and Red Bull air athlete New Zealand-born Chuck Berry, 47, was last week soaring over Lake Hillier in Western Australia mesmerised by the pink mystery below.

“The whole crew was … blown away by the lake the whole time we were there,” Berry said.

“There’s just this bright pink lake on an island in the middle of the ocean.

“You’ve got the deep blue of the ocean, the turquoise blue of the shallows, the stunning white beach, the deep green of the bush and it all makes the pink stick out.

“I’ve been skydiving all around the world for years and I’ve never seen anything quite like that.”

Berry, who has done more than 6000 skydives across the globe, said his flight over Lake Hillier was “by far the most beautiful”.

Lake Hillier is surrounded by pristine forest on Middle Island in the Recherche Archipelago, metres from the Southern Ocean and about 120km south-east of Esperance.
