Camel spotting in UAE

New Zealand couple Thomas Carl Akash and Julie William arrived on bicycles at this year’s Al Dhafra Festival, a camel festival held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Akash and William have been travelling for a year and a half and were welcomed by the Advisor for Culture and Heritage at the Court of the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and chairman of the Festival Mohammed Khalaf Al Mazrouei. The couple said they decided to take a long journey on their bicycles away from the daily routine, especially after passing their forties. Their journey began in Las Vegas and has taken them through Canada, South Africa and Europe to the UAE via Iran, Turkey and Syria. Thomas said they went to Dubai and then Amman to look for camel racing, where they heard about the Festival.
